A Synoptic Update on Smart Lipid Nanocarrier: Cubosomes, and their Design Development, and Recent Challenges.

Cubosomes are a kind of nanoparticle that is distinct from solid particles in that they are liquid crystalline particles formed by self-assembly of a certain surfactant with a current water ratio. Their unique properties as a result of their microstructure are useful in practical applications. Cubosomes, specifically lyotropic nonlamellar liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LCNs) have gained acceptance as a medication delivery strategy for cancer and other disorders. Cubosomes are produced by the fragmentation of a solid-like phase into smaller particles. Because of its particular microstructure, which is physiologically safe and capable of allowing for the controlled release of solubilized compounds, cubic phase particles are garnering considerable attention. These cubosomes are highly adaptable carriers with promising theranostic efficacy because they can be given orally, topically, or intravenously. Throughout its operation, the drug delivery system regulates the loaded anticancer bioactive's target selectivity and drug release characteristics. This compilation examines recent advances and obstacles in the development and application of cubosomes to treat various cancers, as well as the challenges of turning it into a potential nanotechnological invasion.

Non-lamellar lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles as nanocarriers for enhanced drug encapsulation of atorvastatin calcium and proanthocyanidins

Atorvastatin calcium (ATV) and proanthocyanidins (PAC) have a strong antioxidant activity, that can benefit to reduce the atherosclerotic plaque progression. Unfortunately, the bioavailability of ATV is greatly reduced due to its limited drug solubility while the PAC drug is unstable upon exposure to the atmospheric oxygen. Herein, the lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LLCNPs) constructed by a binary mixture of soy phosphatidylcholine (SPC) and citric acid ester of monoglyceride (citrem) at different weight ratios were used to encapsulate the hydrophobic ATV and hydrophilic PAC. The LLCNPs were further characterized by small-angle X-ray scattering and dynamic light scattering. Depending on the lipid composition, the systems have a size range of 140–190 nm and were able to encapsulate both drugs in the range of 90–100%. Upon increasing the citrem content of drug-loaded LLCNPs, the hexosomes (H2) was completely transformed to an emulsified inverse micellar (L2). The optimum encapsulation efficiency (EE) of ATV and PAC were obtained in citrem/SPC weight ratio 4:1 (L2) and 1:1 (H2), respectively. There was a substantial change in the mean size and PDI of the nanoparticles upon 30 days of storage with the ATV-loaded LLCNPs exhibiting greater colloidal instability than PAC-loaded LLCNPs. The biphasic released pattern (burst released at the initial stage followed by the sustained released at the later stage) was perceived in ATV formulation, while the burst drug released pattern was observed in PAC formulations that could be attributed by its internal H2 structure. Interestingly, the cytokine studies showed that the PAC-LLCNPs promisingly up regulate the expressions of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) better than the drug-free and ATV-loaded LLCNPs samples. The structural tunability of citrem/SPC nanoparticles and their effect on physicochemical characteristic, biological activities and potential as an alternative drug delivery platform in the treatment of atherosclerosis are discussed.

Regulating the structural polymorphism and protein corona composition of phytantriol-based lipid nanoparticles using choline ionic liquids

Lipid-based lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LCNPs) face stability challenges in biological fluids during clinical translation. Ionic Liquids (ILs) have emerged as effective solvent additives for tuning the structure of LCNP’s and enhancing their stability. We investigated the effect of a library of 21 choline-based biocompatible ILs with 9 amino acid anions as well as 10 other organic/inorganic anions during the preparation of phytantriol (PHY)-based LCNPs, followed by incubation in human serum and serum proteins. Small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) results show that the phase behaviour of the LCNPs depends on the IL concentration and anion structure. Incubation with human serum led to a phase transition from the inverse bicontinuous cubic (Q2) to the inverse hexagonal (H2) mesophase, influenced by the specific IL present. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and proteomics analysis of selected samples, including PHY control and those with choline glutamate, choline hexanoate, and choline geranate, identified abundant proteins in the protein corona, including albumin, apolipoproteins, and serotransferrin. The composition of the protein corona varied among samples, shedding light on the intricate interplay between ILs, internal structure and surface chemistry of LCNPs, and biological fluids.

Intrinsic and Dynamic Heterogeneity of Nonlamellar Lyotropic Liquid Crystalline Nanodispersions.

Nonlamellar lyotropic liquid crystalline (LLC) nanoparticles are a family of versatile nano-self-assemblies, which are finding increasing applications in drug solubilization and targeted drug delivery. LLC nanodispersions are heterogeneous with discrete nanoparticle subpopulations of distinct internal architecture and morphology, frequently coexisting with micelles and/or vesicles. Diversity in the internal architectural repertoire of LLC nanodispersions grants versatility in drug solubilization, encapsulation, and release rate. However, drug incorporation contributes to the heterogeneity of LLC nanodispersions, and on exposure to biological media, LLC nanodispersions often undergo nanostructural and morphological transformations. From a pharmaceutical perspective, coexistence of multiple types of nanoparticles with diverse structural attributes, together with media-driven transformations in colloidal characteristics, brings challenges in dissecting biological and therapeutic performance of LLC nanodispersions in a spatiotemporal manner. Here, we outline innate and acquired heterogeneity of LLC nanodispersions and discuss technological developments and alternative approaches needed to improve homogeneity of LLC formulations for drug delivery applications.

Cubosomes: An Emerging and Promising Drug Delivery System for Enhancing Cancer Therapy.

Cancer and other diseases can be treated with cubosomes, which are lyotropic nonlamellar liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LCNs). These cubosomes can potentially be a highly versatile carrier with theranostic efficacy, as they can be ingested, applied topically, or injected intravenously. Recent years have seen substantial progress in the synthesis, characterization, regulation of drug release patterns, and target selectivity of loaded anticancer bioactive compounds. However, its use in clinical settings has been slow and necessitates additional proof. Recent progress and roadblocks in using cubosomes as a nanotechnological intervention against various cancers are highlighted. In the last few decades, advances in biomedical nanotechnology have allowed for the development of "smart" drug delivery devices that can adapt to external stimuli. By improving therapeutic targeting efficacy and lowering the negative effects of payloads, these well-defined nanoplatforms can potentially promote patient compliance in response to specific stimuli. Liposomes and niosomes, two other well-known vesicular systems, share a lipid basis with cubosomes. Possible applications include a novel medication delivery system for hydrophilic, lipophilic, and amphiphilic drugs. We evaluate the literature on cubosomes, emphasizing their potential use in tumor-targeted drug delivery applications and critiquing existing explanations for cubosome self-assembly, composition, and production. As cubosome dispersion has bioadhesive and compatible features, numerous drug delivery applications, including oral, ocular, and transdermal, are also discussed in this review.

The influence of mannose-based esters on the mesophase behaviour of lyotropic liquid crystalline nanosystems as drug delivery vectors

Lyotropic Liquid Crystalline (LLC) nanoparticles represent an emerging class of smart, biocompatible, and biodegradable systems for the delivery of drugs. Among these, structures with complex 3D architectures such as cubosomes are of particular interest. These are non- lamellar assemblies having hydrophobic and hydrophilic portions able to carry drugs of different nature. They can further be modulated including suitable additives to control the release of the active payload, and to promote an active targeting. Starting from monoolein (GMO) cubic phase, different concentrations of mannose-based esters were added, and the eventual structural modifications were monitored to ascertain the effects of the presence of glycolipids. Moreover, the structural properties of these nanosystems loaded with Dexamethasone (DEX), a very well-known anti-inflammatory steroid, were also studied. Experiments were carried out by synchrotron Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), Raman Microspectroscopy (RMS) and Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) measurements. The drug delivery potential (i.e. entrapment efficiency and release properties) of the obtained nanoparticles was evaluated. Finally, in vitro cytocompatibility and anti-inflammatory activity studies of the prepared formulations were carried out. Inclusion of mannose-based surfactants up to 10 mol% influenced the structural parameters of Im3m cubic phase and swollen cubic phases were obtained with the different glycolipids with lattice parameters significantly higher than GMO. A complete cytocompatibility and an increased DEX activity were observed, thus suggesting the possibility to use GMO/glycolipids nanoparticles to formulate innovative drug delivery systems.

A microfluidic platform for the controlled synthesis of architecturally complex liquid crystalline nanoparticles

Soft-matter nanoparticles are of great interest for their applications in biotechnology, therapeutic delivery, and in vivo imaging. Underpinning this is their biocompatibility, potential for selective targeting, attractive pharmacokinetic properties, and amenability to downstream functionalisation. Morphological diversity inherent to soft-matter particles can give rise to enhanced functionality. However, this diversity remains untapped in clinical and industrial settings, and only the simplest of particle architectures [spherical lipid vesicles and lipid/polymer nanoparticles (LNPs)] have been routinely exploited. This is partially due to a lack of appropriate methods for their synthesis. To address this, we have designed a scalable microfluidic hydrodynamic focusing (MHF) technology for the controllable, rapid, and continuous production of lyotropic liquid crystalline (LLC) nanoparticles (both cubosomes and hexosomes), colloidal dispersions of higher-order lipid assemblies with intricate internal structures of 3-D and 2-D symmetry. These particles have been proposed as the next generation of soft-matter nano-carriers, with unique fusogenic and physical properties. Crucially, unlike alternative approaches, our microfluidic method gives control over LLC size, a feature we go on to exploit in a fusogenic study with model cell membranes, where a dependency of fusion on particle diameter is evident. We believe our platform has the potential to serve as a tool for future studies involving non-lamellar soft nanoparticles, and anticipate it allowing for the rapid prototyping of LLC particles of diverse functionality, paving the way toward their eventual wide uptake at an industrial level.

Recent Advances in the Development of Liquid Crystalline Nanoparticles as Drug Delivery Systems.

Due to their distinctive structural features, lyotropic nonlamellar liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LCNPs), such as cubosomes and hexosomes, are considered effective drug delivery systems. Cubosomes have a lipid bilayer that makes a membrane lattice with two water channels that are intertwined. Hexosomes are inverse hexagonal phases made of an infinite number of hexagonal lattices that are tightly connected with water channels. These nanostructures are often stabilized by surfactants. The structure's membrane has a much larger surface area than that of other lipid nanoparticles, which makes it possible to load therapeutic molecules. In addition, the composition of mesophases can be modified by pore diameters, thus influencing drug release. Much research has been conducted in recent years to improve their preparation and characterization, as well as to control drug release and improve the efficacy of loaded bioactive chemicals. This article reviews current advances in LCNP technology that permit their application, as well as design ideas for revolutionary biomedical applications. Furthermore, we have provided a summary of the application of LCNPs based on the administration routes, including the pharmacokinetic modulation property.

Apremilast loaded lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles embedded hydrogel for improved permeation and skin retention: An effective approach for psoriasis treatment

The present work aimed to prepare and evaluate Apremilast loaded lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LCNPs) formulation for skin delivery to enhance the efficacy with reduced adverse effects of the oral therapy in psoriasis treatment. The LCNPs were prepared using the emulsification using a high shear homogenizer for size reduction and optimized with Box Behnken design to achieve desired particle size and entrapment efficiency. The selected LCNPs formulation was evaluated for in-vitro release, in-vitro psoriasis efficacy, skin retention, dermatokinetic, in-vivo skin retention, and skin irritation study. The selected formulation exhibited 173.25 ± 2.192 nm (polydispersity 0.273 ± 0.008) particle size and 75.028 ± 0.235% entrapment efficiency. The in-vitro drug release showed the prolonged-release for 18 h. The ex-vivo studies revealed that LCNPs formulation exhibited drug retention up to 3.2 and 11.9-fold higher, in stratum corneum and viable epidermis compared to conventional gel preparation. In-vitro cell line studies performed on immortal keratinocyte cells (HaCaT cells) demonstrated non-toxicity of selected excipients used in designed LCNPs. The dermatokinetic study revealed the AUC0–24 of the LCNPs loaded gel was 8.4 fold higher in epidermis and 2.06 fold in dermis, respectively compared to plain gel. Further, in-vivo animal studies showed enhanced skin permeation and retention of Apremilast compared to conventional gel.

Development of stimuli-responsive lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles targeting lysosomes: Physicochemical, morphological and drug release studies

The abilities of sub-cellular targeting and stimuli-responsiveness are critical challenges in pharmaceutical nanotechnology. In the present study, glyceryl monooleate (GMO)-based non-lamellar lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles were stabilized by the poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate)-b-poly(lauryl methacrylate) block copolymer carrying tri-phenyl-phosphine cations (TPP-QPDMAEMA-b-PLMA), either used alone or in combination with other polymers as co-stabilizers. The systems were designed to perform simultaneously sub-cellular targeting, stimuli-responsiveness and to exhibit stealthiness. The physicochemical characteristics and fractal dimensions of the resultant nanosystems were obtained from light scattering techniques, while their micropolarity and microfluidity from fluorescence spectroscopy. Their morphology was assessed by cryo-TEM, while their thermal behavior by microcalorimetry and high-resolution ultrasound spectroscopy. The analyzed properties, including the responsiveness to pH and temperature, were found to be dependent on the combination of the polymeric stabilizers. The subcellular localization was monitored by confocal microscopy, revealing targeting to lysosomes. Subsequently, resveratrol was loaded into the nanosystems, the entrapment efficiency was investigated and in vitro release studies were carried out at different conditions, in which a stimuli-triggered drug release profile was achieved. In conclusion, the proposed multi-functional nanosystems can be considered as potentially stealth, stimuli-responsive drug delivery nanocarriers, with targeting ability to lysosomes and presenting a stimuli-triggered drug release profile.

Tailoring the self-assembly of lipid-based lyotropic liquid crystalline mesophases with biocompatible ionic liquid aqueous solutions

Interest in lipid-based lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LCNPs) as drug delivery vehicles continues to grow, owing to their unique structural features. The structure of these particles can be controlled to suit specific applications, through tailoring the lipid composition and solvent conditions. Ionic liquids (ILs) are liquid salts comprising tailorable cations and anions, of which some are known to support the self-assembly of amphiphiles, and hence can be used as designer solvents for LCNPs. We employed dynamic light scattering, small angle X-ray scattering, and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy to examine the particle size and lyotropic liquid crystalline mesophase behavior of monoolein (MO)-based LCNPs in aqueous solutions containing 13 choline ILs with a selection of amino acid and carboxylate anions at 6 concentrations 20, 10, 5, 1, 0.33, and 0.16 wt%. Our results show the formation of LCNPs with various liquid crystalline nanostructures, including the inverse bicontinuous primitive cubic (Q2) phase with the Im3m crystallographic space group, the inverse hexagonal (H2), and the inverse discontinuous micellar cubic (I2) phases. The internal nanostructures of the MO nanoparticles depended on three main factors, the anion of the ILs, the IL concentration, and the pH of the solution. This study elucidates the potential application of IL solvents as a powerful tool to tailor the internal nanostructure of MO-based LCNPs, and advances the exploration of IL-enabled responsive LCNPs systems as prospective nanocarriers.

Engineering of QbD driven and ultrasonically shaped lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles for Apigenin in the management of skin cancer

Treatment of skin cancer demands targeted delivery without minimal systemic circulation for maximum therapeutic window. Dermal delivery with nano-formulation offers such advantages. Therefore, present study aims to formulate Lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LLC NPs) loaded with Apigenin (API) for dermal delivery using quality by design (QbD) approach for effective permeation resulting in improved bioavailability. Apigenin loaded LLC NPs (API-LLC NPs) were formulated and optimized by applying risk assessment and design of experiments (Box-Behnken Design). The optimized API-LLC NPs showed particle size, PdI and entrapment efficiency of 287.7 ± 9.53 nm, 0.152 ± 0.051 and 80 ± 2.2 % respectively. The optimized API-LLC NPs were characterized for morphology and crystallinity using optical microscopy, TEM, DSC and PXRD. In vitro and ex vivo studies showed sustained release and better permeation profile. CLSM study presented better penetration of API-LLC NPs which were quantitatively confirmed with dermatokinetics. Cytotoxic efficacy assessed on B16F10 cell lines showed a dose-dependent efficacy of API-LLC NPs with an IC50 of 45.74 ± 0.05. In a nutshell, the developed API-LLC NPs exhibit excellent potential for targeting deeper skin layers thereby can be considered a promising topical drug delivery nanocarrier in the treatment and management of skin cancer.

Progress and challenges of lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles for innovative therapies

Since the late 20th century, we have witnessed a growing and substantial advance in nanomedicine, in part due to the development of multifunctional and multimodal nanoplatforms that have enabled improved efficacy, biocompatibility, and novel therapeutic applications. Non-lamellar liquid-crystalline nanoparticles, especially, reverse hexagonal and cubic bicontinuous mesophases, have gained the attention of the scientific-academic community due to their intriguing and functional characteristics, such as self-organization into two- and three-dimensional supramolecular structures, high symmetry, and ability to accommodate hydrophobic and hydrophilic small molecules, peptides, proteins, nucleic acids, and imaging agents. Furthermore, these particles can be easily modified with specific and/or bioresponsive molecules allowing targeting and improved therapeutic performance. In this contribution we provide an overview of advances in the design and architecture of LCNPs, strategies to overcome biological barriers and main findings about interactions with different types of interfaces. We highlight recent applications in topical, oral, pulmonary and intravenous drug delivery in preclinical in vivo studies. We discussed the current scenario and translational obstacles faced for clinical translation, as well as our perspectives.

3D Lipidic Matrix for Incorporation and Stabilization of Biologically Active Molecules

In aqueous media, biologically active substances are usually unstable, poorly soluble compounds with low bioavailability. Incorporation of these compounds into the structure of lipid-based lyotropic liquid crystalline phase or nanoparticles can increase their solubility and subsequent bioavailability. The aim of this review is to clarify the principle of self-assembly of lipidic amphiphilic molecules in the aqueous environment, to present lipid bicontinuous cubic and hexagonal phases and their current biological application.

Affimer Tagged Cubosomes: Targeting of Carcinoembryonic Antigen Expressing Colorectal Cancer Cells Using In Vitro and In Vivo Models.

Nanomedicines, while having been approved for cancer therapy, present many challenges such as low stability, rapid clearance, and nonspecificity leading to off-target toxicity. Cubosomes are porous lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles that have shown great premise as drug delivery vehicles; however, their behavior in vivo is largely underexplored, hindering clinical translation. Here, we have engineered cubosomes based on the space group Im3m that are loaded with copper acetylacetonate as a model drug, and their surfaces are functionalized for the first time with Affimer proteins via copper-free click chemistry to actively target overexpressed carcinoembryonic antigens on LS174T colorectal cancer cells. Unlike nontargeted cubosomes, Affimer tagged cubosomes showed preferential accumulation in cancer cells compared to normal cells not only in vitro (2D monolayer cell culture and 3D spheroid models) but also in vivo in colorectal cancer mouse xenografts, while exhibiting low nonspecific absorption and toxicity in other vital organs. Cancerous spheroids had maximum cell death compared to noncancerous cells upon targeted delivery. Xenografts subjected to targeted drug-loaded cubosomes showed a 5–7-fold higher drug accumulation in the tumor tissue compared to the liver, kidneys, and other vital organs, a significant decrease in tumor growth, and an increased survival rate compared to the nontargeted group. This work encompasses the first thorough preclinical investigation of Affimer targeted cubosomes as a cancer therapeutic.

Formulation, characterization, and optimization of aripiprazole-loaded lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticle for sustained release and better encapsulation efficiency against psychosis disorder

Lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles (LLCNPs) have recently received much attention in the application of drug delivery systems, due to their ordered and versatile internal nanostructures that are considered as a key factor in improving loading efficiency of various poorly soluble therapeutic agents. To take advantage on their unique well-defined and flexible internal nanostructures, aripiprazole-loaded LLCNPs consisted of a binary mixture of soy phosphatidylcholine (SPC) and citric acid ester of monoglyceride (citrem) were developed in this study. Despite exhibiting low aqueous solubility which lead to difficulties in formulation, aripiprazole, a class of psychotropic drug called atypical anti-psychotics has been used in the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder with few side effects. The utmost interest in this study is to explore the potential of LLCNPs in improving the percentage of encapsulation efficiency (EE%) of aripiprazole, their effect on the internal nanostructure of LLCNPs mesophases as well as the drug release performance from LLCNPs. The particle size of drug-loaded LLCNPs produced was in the range of 161–186 nm, with polydispersity index (PDI) between 0.11–0.16, and negative zeta potential of -21.5 to -23.8 mV. Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) measurements indicated that the internal nanostructures of LLCNPs are of inverse hexagonal (H2) with a negligible difference in the lattice parameter before and after drug loading. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to observe the morphology and overall size distribution of drug-free and drug-loaded nanodispersions, which supported both SAXS and particles size findings. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy demonstrated that aripiprazole interacted physically with binary mixture of citrem/SPC within the nanodispersions. Moreover, the results showed that aripiprazole was successfully encapsulated into LLCNPs nanoparticles, where the EE% was all above 92%. These LLCNPs were not only have a high EE% value, but also exhibited a sustained release performance of aripiprazole with the release capacity of around 97% up to 96 h. From the current study, the potential use of LLCNPs as a promising nanocarrier for aripiprazole delivery is anticipated to improve the pharmacokinetics of this drug whilst enduring the internal nanostructural stability of the LLCNPs upon exposure to physiological environment.

Breaking Isolation to Form New Networks: pH-Triggered Changes in Connectivity inside Lipid Nanoparticles.

There is a growing demand to develop smart nanomaterials that are structure-responsive as they have the potential to offer enhanced dose, temporal and spatial control of compounds and chemical processes. The naturally occurring pH gradients found throughout the body make pH an attractive stimulus for guiding the response of a nanocarrier to specific locations or (sub)cellular compartments in the body. Here we have engineered highly sensitive lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles that reversibly respond to changes in pH by altering the connectivity within their structure at physiological temperatures. At pH 7.4, the nanoparticles have an internal structure consisting of discontinuous inverse micellar "aqueous pockets" based on space group Fd3m. When the pH is ≤6, the nanoparticles change from a compartmentalized to an accessible porous internal structure based on a 2D inverse hexagonal phase (plane group p6mm). We validate the internal symmetry of the nanoparticles using small-angle X-ray scattering and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy. The high-resolution electron microscopy images obtained have allowed us for the first time to directly visualize the internal structure of the Fd3m nanoparticles and resolve the two different-sized inverse micelles that make up the structural motif within the Fd3m unit cell, which upon structural analysis reveal excellent agreement with theoretical geometrical models.

The Influence of Hydrophobic Blocks of PEO-Containing Copolymers on Glyceryl Monooleate Lyotropic Liquid Crystalline Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery.

The investigation of properties of amphiphilic block copolymers as stabilizers for non-lamellar lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles represents a fundamental issue for the formation, stability and upgraded functionality of these nanosystems. The aim of this work is to use amphiphilic block copolymers, not studied before, as stabilizers of glyceryl monooleate 1-(cis-9-octadecenoyl)-rac-glycerol (GMO) colloidal dispersions. Nanosystems were prepared with the use of poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(lactic acid) (PEO-b-PLA) and poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(5-methyl-5-ethyloxycarbonyl-1,3-dioxan-2-one) (PEO-b-PMEC) block copolymers. Different GMO:polymer molar ratios lead to formulation of nanoparticles with different size and internal organization, depending on the type of hydrophobic block. Resveratrol was loaded into the nanosystems as a model hydrophobic drug. The physicochemical and morphological characteristics of the prepared nanosystems were investigated by dynamic light scattering (DLS), cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM), fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The studies allowed the description of the lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles and evaluation of impact of copolymer composition on these nanosystems. The structures formed in GMO:block copolymer colloidal dispersions were compared with those discussed previously. The investigations broaden the toolbox of polymeric stabilizers for the development of this type of hybrid polymer/lipid nanostructures.
